Ong Su-ming’s 4th Visit – A Collaboration With YLCO

Ong Su-ming and Ignatius Chew collaborating for the 'Museum of Families'

Ong Su-ming’s 4th visit to YLCO museum was for a different reason. She came with a friend Nancy Ong but it was to see Ignatius Chew to enquire if she could exhibit her fathers memorablia in the museum.

She was impressed with the museums ‘Ancestors’ segment which allowed other non YLCO personalities to be given a place to exhibit their families.

According to Ignatius this new segment will be known as YLCO Museum- Museum of Families. It is an extension of Dato K.K.Lim's Ipoh World and covers non YLCO subjects. It allows other families of friends to participate and share their ancestors thus creating wider interest for topics on Ipoh.

Su-ming's father Tan Sri Ong Hock Thye and mother Chong Khew Yin

Su-ming’s father was Tan Sri Ong Hock Thye the Chief Judge of Malaya. He was the other principal of the established law firm called Yeoh “Cheang Lee and Ong”. It was a prominent law firm in Ipoh.

Ong married Chong Khew Yin but she died early. Ong remarried in 1943 to Mary Chung Yuet See (1924–1995), the eldest daughter of Kapitan China Chung Thye Phin.

Su-ming would prepare all the exhibits which would include photos, law journals, related reading materials on her father and his ancestors and Ignatius would allocate a display accordingly.

Both Su-ming and Ignatius are quite interested to see the results of this collaboration.
