Cousin Chew Beng Hian-First Time Visit To YLCO Museum

Jacintha and Chew Beng Hian (3rd and 4th fom left) and the team of YLCO

Chew Beng Hian and his lovely wife Jacintha visited YLCO Museum on the last week of January 2026. They were on their way to dinner with a friend when they spotted Agnes Chew and called out to her. Agnes immediately invited him to YLCO museum the next morning.

The next morning the usual team of Ignatius, Pauline, Agnes, Poh See and Lam Swee greeted Beng Hian and Jacintha. Ignatius took the couple through the different segments of the museum - the early Chews , the 2nd generation and the trip to Heng Lim village, China in 2023.

Beng Hian is a part of our chat group and has followed the journey of the museum sharing the families. However this is his first time visiting the museum and taking photographs with the exhibits.

..at the porch of 1 Jalan Lasam

..the tour begins ...but sign the guest book first

in the Private Dining Room .. is that the 'Adam and Eve Hill'

take photo with a very popular relative / actress ....Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh..

..and another up and coming relative / actress Angela Yeoh

Later in an interview Beng Hian praised Ignatius for doing an amazing job saying the museum is a fine testimony of his endeavours.

...get reacquainted with the relatives ....

..the expandable family tree in the background ....

" i remember Yvonne Chew "

Beng Hian too loves exploring family history and Ignatius’ efforts at bringing the past life of their clans sufficiently covered would enable him assemble his own family history.

Having visited their Heng Lim China village in 2007 Beng Hian was impressed that Heng Lim traditional village had improved with time like the rest of China.

"I'm exceedingly proud of its progress. Considering Heng Lim's state of poverty during the previous century and the response of the Chew brothers by setting up the first village school it was naturally deeply appreciated by our kinfolk".

Ignatius displays his visit to Heng Lim ancestral village in 2024 .....

The 4 Chew brothers were 'honoured as the finest diasporic sons of Heng Lim village' and had their photos placed at the temple in their Heng Lim village.

..a meal of Ipoh KCFH and coconut water before the return to KL

The morning had progressed and soon Beng Hian and Jacintha had an afternoon train to catch to Kuala Lumpur. We treated them to Ipoh KCFH (kai see hor fun) for a quick lunch. Hopefully if they visit again it will be with more of their family members and possibly we would hear more old family stories.
