The first time Ignatius
Chew met Phillip Leong was in 2017 while requesting to locate the entrance of his
grandfather’s former tin mine in Gunong Lanno. It had been Ignatius quest since
starting the Chew Museum in 2012.
Phillip was
the Perak Karst Society president and knew of the former mine entrance of Gua Puncak, Gunong Lanno. Phillip took
us to the location of the entrance which was a working quarry. Unfortunately
the entrance was quarried and the entrance had been permanently sealed.
Before returning to his office Phillip decided to show Ignatius and Yew Kong the sights of Lubok Timah Hot Spring and Waterfall and Tasik Cermin / Mirror Lake all found along the road to Gunong Lanno.

Ignatius 2nd visit with Phillip was in August 2023 when he visited 1Jalan Lasam and YLCO museum and provided the little information of his background.
Phillip CK Leong is a retired lawyer of the 35 year old law firm of CK Leong & Co. Phillip studied economics at Hong Kong University but he had to give it up due to objection from his father. His father wanted him to be a doctor and an engineer and if that wasn’t possible become a lawyer. “When I graduated there were 400 lawyers but only 10 economists. However I have no regrets. After 30 over years with my son taking over my firm”

Phillip’s
father is Leong Boon Swee. His last post in Ipoh was OCSS (Officer in Charge of
Secret Society’s) Perak. Earlier he was an Inspector in Selangor.
