The Perak Nanyang Alumni University Association recently celebrated its 57^th anniversary on 22 September.

David Chew, the Alumni National President as well as the Perak president for over 10 years said the anniversary was to raise funds for the purchase of a new building for the New Era University College at Kajang, Selangor. A 1000 person luncheon was held to at SM Yuk Choy Jelapang. Representatives from 7 branches in Malaysia and Singapore attended the fund raiser.

David Chew is a family member of  YLCO hence their presence . In attendance was Ignatius Chew and Pauline, Yeoh Chee Pui, Yeoh Poh See, Chew Bee Teen and hubby, Oh Teik Soo and Linda and  Lim Chin Beng who came with his NTU friends.

The president of Perak’s Alumni, David Chew and Ignatius Chew are cousins. David’s grandfather is Chew Boon Pit while Ignatius grandfather is Chew Boon Juan.

By their marriage to the Goh sisters namely Goh Lean Giok to Boon Pitt and Goh Lean Kee to Boon Juan thus their descendants are cousins. Their relationship goes further to an earlier time of Chew Yan Bin in the 14 century though  the exact date cannot be determined.

The luncheon and entertainment were good where the participation of the schools was very encouraging and showed a solidarity among schools.
