Delayed SMI Awards Were Presented At YLCO Museum – 31 October 2023

It was another busy morning at YLCO museum. Professor Gary Lit presented the SMI awards to Dato Lim Si Boon and Mr Oh Teik Hee on behalf of SMI Principal Phoon Keen Loon.

The award was meant to be given on 21 September during the ‘Brother Paul Memorial Lecture’ but due to time constraints and Dato Lim being absent on that day the ceremony was held till today.

Ignatius who was down with a bad cough watched from the outside as the awards was being presented. However Professor Gary persuaded him to step in the room so he could present his compilation of news articles.



Ignatius obliged but held his breath, so as not to infect the gathering, while receiving the compilation news articles from by Prof Gary


Ignatius subsequently puts on a mask and poses with the award recipients and Professor Gary   


Marc Koo, who owns Time Tunnel Old Town, received two books 'If the Sky were to Fall' from Professor Gary

The next agenda was breakfast.....


Today's menu was fried popiah with Thai sauce dip ...


..and aged hard boiled eggs ..which tasted great when eaten ...contributed by Linda Oh. However Oh Teik Kee was more interested in Professor Gary's articles


As the guest ate Professor Gary shared his exploits while researching for material .... 


..this was a century old temple in the Kinta Valley which had a bell said to be presented by the emperor before the last Emperor Pu Yi   


..which really got the guests to pay attention to his discovery 


the last agenda of the morning was to interview Hanson Lau, the son of Datuk Seri Lau Pak Khuan for more material.
