Ong Su-ming held a 2nd Handing Over of her father’s folders of Tan Sri Ong Hock Thye to the Museum of Families.

She had previously brought the folders in July 2026 together with her sister, but had taken them back to show to the rest of the family, who gathered in Penang to celebrate her sister's 90th birthday.

That August morning, she arrived with her daughter Chan Yuenli, Nancy Chew, Sumathi (who had attended the earlier visit), and a group of friends. It was undoubtedly an auspicious morning.

Addressing the room before the handover, Su-ming said she had endeavoured to complete the two folders before the family event. She explained that the contents covered family history and background, gatherings, outings, interesting conversations, and anecdotes about family and friends. This included memories of their black-and-white mah cheh servants, who were an intrinsic part of their upbringing for many years. She added that ancestral rites, Ching Beng, and honoring ancestors were what initially drew her to Ignatius Chew's museum.

"These folders refer to a time in history when our siblings were close and spoke face-to-face, whereas now we are scattered," she noted. "We don't communicate like before, and emails have now been replaced by WhatsApp."

She thanked Ignatius Chew for creating a valuable space to preserve treasured stories, expressing her appreciation for the opportunity to honor her father's life..
