Frances Yeoh Saw Kin Chooses Catholicism

Friday 6 December 2024. Yeoh Saw Kin was 82 when she decided to become a Catholic. She spent her early years in England where she was a boarder in a Convent. Her father Yeoh Ghim Cheow sent his family of three children with his wife to England where they were educated.  She was baptised there but in the Anglican denomination.

When she decided to become a Catholic there were some rites which she had to perform before admission into the faith. A Reception was held where she received the sacrament of confirmation, was anointed with chrism and received communion. 

Present at the Reception to welcome her to the faith was Fr Massang (the celebrant) Evelyne Yeoh (her sponsor and niece) and Gordon Hendricks (RCIA facilitator). Her family included her son Tom Latham, who came from England, nephew and relatives.

It was a small but lovely family reception with the all actively participating and helping with welcoming Frances into the Catholic faith. It culminated with a relaxing lunch by all present.
